Meet the Dougherty & Dougherty Forestry Services Staff

As CEO, Derek is responsible for company management and direction. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Forest Resources from the University of Georgia in 1993, Derek worked as District Manager for James M. Vardaman & Co., Inc. in Lumberton, North Carolina until starting Dougherty & Dougherty Forestry Services, Inc. in September 1995.

Derek is a registered forester in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi and Real Estate broker in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Derek also serves as manager of Progressive Realty Services, LLC, specializing in the sale of rural land, and co-manager of Progressive Forest Properties Group, LLC, managing pooled monies invested in timberland properties. Derek is a member of Society of American Foresters and the Forest Landowners Association. Derek serves on the Executive Committee of the Forest Landowners Association. Derek is an accomplished writer and speaker on forest management in the southeastern United States.

Julie is co-owner of Dougherty & Dougherty Forestry & Progressive Realty Services and has served as Vice President of Dougherty & Dougherty Forestry since 1997. She is in charge of business operations to include staff management, customer service, marketing/advertising, and bookkeeping. Julie earned a Bachelor of Business from the University of Georgia. She is an active real estate broker with licenses in both Georgia and North Carolina. Julie is a member of the Forest Landowners Association. She is also the proud mother of two wonderful children.

Andy serves as South Carolina Operations Manager and Research Coordinator and is responsible for consulting operations and projects throughout the state of SC. In addition he heads up research project design, implementation, and measurements for various clients in the SE US.

Prior to joining Dougherty & Dougherty Andy worked as research coordinator for MeadWestvaco Corporation in Summerville, South Carolina for over a decade. Research responsibilities included all aspects of silviculture: harvesting, land preparation, planting, hardwood and herbaceous weed control and fertilization. An emphasis was placed on developing programs for growing high yield plantations using advanced genetic stock, including mass-control pollinated and varietal seedlings.

Andy is also experienced with GIS and GPS systems. Andy holds a Bachelor of Science in Soil Conservation with a minor in Forestry from North Carolina State University and Master of Science Degree in Forestry from NC State University. Andy is a Certified South Carolina Real Estate Licensee.

Chris serves as North Carolina Opperations Manager. Chris has worked as a forestry consultant with private consulting firms located in North Carolina since 1998. Chris is a graduate of North Carolina State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management and minored in Enviromental Science and Military Science.

Chris is a registered North Carolina forester and real estate broker. He is also a licensed pesticides applicator. Chris is an American Tree Farm System inspector. He is also a North Carolina Notary Public. Chris is a member of the Society of American Foresters, the Forest Landowners Association, and the North Carolina Forestry Association.

Chris is a proud husband and father of one. He is an active member of Oxford United Methodist Church. Chris is a former commisioned officer of the US Army and proudly a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004.

Thomas serves as Forest Technician. Thomas has been working in the field of forestry since August of 2007. Thomas is a graduate of North Carolina State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Forest Management.

Thomas is a member of the Society of American Foresters. He is also a licensed pesticides applicator.

Thomas is the proud husband of Nissa Rudd and enjoys spending time with his wife and enjoys being outdoors.
